Frequently Asked Questions
1. What type of paints do you use?
I use professional cosmetic grade face paints made especially for use on skin. Please always be aware of what face painters are putting on your child's sensitive skin.
Just because something is labeled "washable or "non-toxic" does not mean that it is safe for children's faces.
I use a mix of many brands. My kit includes Diamond FX, Wolfe Brothers, Snazaroo, Kryolan, Paradise Powder and others. All Glitter is poly glitter.
2. How old do you have to be to get face painted?
I would reccomend 3 years old and up but this really depends on the child. Some children don't like their faces to be touch, in this case, I would not reccomend face painting. I would like for all kids to have a great experience and enjoy their time with me.
3. How far will you travel?
I will travel up to 30 miles for a 2 hour job. Please note that any jobs within 10 miles of St. Paul have no travel fee. All other location have a $20 travel fee in addition to standard rates. Any location farther than 40 miles may have additional travel fee - this will be on a case by case basis.
4. I have a fairly large party, rather than paying for another face painter, can my niece/ daughter/ friend help you paint?
Sure, if she can provide her own paints!
Otherwise, I would have to say no. Due to the nature of my business, there are strict hygiene guidlines I follow. My paints are regularly sanitized and items such as sponges are not re-used. Brushes are regularly washed and dipped in alcohol to prevent the spread of bacteria. All these precautions help keep your children safe and healthy. These are the rules I follow and I hope you understand that I am not trying to discourage you from recruiting your niece/ daughter/ friend, I just want you to know that it's not as simple as picking up a paint brush.
5. How much room do you need to face paint?
My standard set-up is a 2 x 4 ft table and two chairs. So not very much room at all.
6. How do I remove the face paint after the party?
Removing the face paint is fairly simple. Because most of the paints are water base, just use a warm dark color wash cloth, soap and water.
Remove the bulk of the design with a damp rag first, then go back in with a wet rag to remove the residue.
My Favorite Method of Removal
1. Take 1 or 2 baby wipes and wipe off the bulk of the design. Dont worry too much about what your face looks like at this point. You're basically taking it off and spreading the paint around your face.
2. Take a dark color damp rag and one or two drops of tearless baby shampoo and work into a lite lather in your hands.
3. Take the damp rag and wipe off the excess face paints.
Please note that some colors may stain and will usually come off after a second washing. If it still lingers, you can use baby oil to remove any final residue.
7. My child has very sensitive skin and severe allergies. Are they still able to get their face painted?
Because every child is different with different tollerance levels I am not able to advise you on this. You, as their mother should know best. But as a rule, I use the good old saying, " when in doubt - throw it out". So no, if you child has extremely sensitive skin and allergies to many different things, I would not suggest getting their face painted. Although I am able to provide MSDS listing for my face paints and, as mentioned above, all my face paints are professional cosmetic grade paints, even though they are made with FDA approved materials, no face paints hold an FDA approved seal. Snazaroo can even be eaten if you get hungry enough, but once again, they are not FDA approved, but FDA compliant.
8. How long does each design take?
The amount of time it takes to paint each design varies greatly. Standard designs take anywhere from 4 - 8 mins. More complex will take a bit longer depending on low intricate it is and the size of the design. At parties, I aim for each child to spend at the most 5 mins in my chair.
9. What happens if I have to cancel / reschedule my appointment?

Yes, I will try my best to duplicate any logo for any event you are throwing, however, it is best to have 5 or 6 designs for me to look at to give me different types of designs that will fit your theme.
11. Would you consider donating your time for a charitable event?
Unfortunately I am not able to donate my services. I have a few select groups I am currently offering my services through and these events along with paid jobs keep me busy enough. Unfortunately I am not able to take any more on. Thank you for your interest in my services and I wish you the best.
